Empowering Nagaland's Beekeepers through Technology and Innovation

Nagaland's beekeepers are being empowered through technology and innovation, as part of the World Bank-supported RAMP programme.

The state's apiculture and honey value chain is being modernized through the RAMP programme, with a focus on sustainable beekeeping practices.

The Department of Industries and Commerce, in collaboration with the Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation and the Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission, organized a two-day Technology Clinic.

The clinic brought together beekeepers, honey harvesters, honey collectors, entrepreneurs, and MSMEs from across Nagaland.

Participants engaged in interactive sessions led by experts from the Nagaland Beekeeping and Honey Mission, covering topics such as bee biology, apiary site selection, and marketing strategies.

The clinic provided hands-on experience with modern bee boxes, honey extraction equipment, and methods for collection, storage, packaging, and branding.

Experts shared insights on marketing, brand building, certification standards, and export readiness.

Participants gained valuable insights into the challenges facing the industry and the need to adopt innovative solutions to address these challenges.

The clinic emphasized the importance of organic certification and building consumer trust in honey purity.

The event demonstrated the importance of technology and innovation in empowering MSMEs and promoting sustainable development in Nagaland.
