Empowering Young Families through Sustainable Beekeeping
The Heydar Aliyev Foundation, led by Vice-President Leyla Aliyeva, has been actively involved in promoting sustainable development and supporting the growth of entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan. Recently, the foundation visited the homes of two participants of the “Young Beekeeper” project, which aims to contribute to biodiversity conservation and promote eco-entrepreneurship in the country.

During the meeting, Leyla Aliyeva had a warm conversation with the young beekeeper families, inquired about their activities, and listened to their impressions regarding their first experiences and productivity in beekeeping. The young beekeepers expressed their gratitude to Leyla Aliyeva for the attention and support shown, and gifted her with natural honey that they had extracted, packaged in the project’s special packaging.

The “Young Beekeeper” project, initiated by the IDEA Public Union and implemented in partnership with the Youth Foundation of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the State Employment Agency, and ABAD public legal entity, has been supporting over 60 young families from different regions of the country since 2021. The project’s objectives include:

  • Contributing to biodiversity conservation
  • Promoting the spread of beekeeping as an eco-entrepreneurship type
  • Supporting natural honey production
  • Improving the material well-being of young families

As part of the project, selected young participants received one-month training with the participation of professional specialists. Upon completion of the training, they were fully equipped with:

  1. Bee families and hives
  2. Beekeeper clothing
  3. Honey extraction equipment
  4. Other necessary supplies

These supplies, combined with the support received, enable young beekeepers to establish efficient operations and start their entrepreneurial journey in the market economy. Young beekeepers will also receive support in product certification, branding, design, and sales organization. These steps will help them bring their products to a wider customer base and organize sales efficiently, enabling them to reach a competitive stage in honey production in a market economy. The Heydar Aliyev Foundation’s involvement in the “Young Beekeeper” project is a testament to its commitment to promoting sustainable development and supporting entrepreneurship in Azerbaijan. By empowering young families through sustainable beekeeping, the foundation is contributing to the country’s economic growth and environmental conservation. Key Takeaways:
• The “Young Beekeeper” project aims to promote eco-entrepreneurship and support natural honey production. • The project provides support in creating beekeeping farms, training, and equipment for young beekeepers.
